ENCOMPASS-project meets formal approval of Leiden University's Board

On 25th November Leiden University's board (College van Bestuur) formally approved the envisaged ENCOMPASS project.

Together with the Faculty of Arts, the board is willing to make an investment in the project, as it fits into the University's plans for internationalization, and its plans to strengthen the ties with Indonesian universities.

This important first step, following the important presentation meeting on September 8th, brings the ENCOMPASS one step closer to reality. The next step will be the allocation of funds at the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. A delegation from the Faculty of Arts has meanwhile presented the plan to the permanent commission for education of the Dutch parliament. Hopefully the financial solutions will soon follow the political will to pay serious attention to mutual cultural heritage via education and research.
